Award-winning musician and TV presenter Holly Rey has recently partnered with Medtronic Diabetes to raise awareness about the automated insulin pump system, MiniMed, as part of an impactful initiative.

Holly was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes at the tender age of 11. The Deeper hitmaker has also used her platforms to raise awareness and to share her journey with diabetes.

Earlier this year, she shared that she has been in and out of hospital since December after she was diagnosed with severe dehydration which led to an acute kidney injury also known as renal failure.

In a candid post shared on her Instagram page, she revealed that her condition once became a touch and go, leading to the discussion of the possibility of a transplant and dialysis among the doctors.

She also revealed that she underwent surgery, experiences high blood pressure, has severe anaemia, and uses a permanent insulin pump.

With the help of Medtronic Diabetes Europe, Holly is using her voice and energy to break the stigma and inspire others living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Taking to their Instagram page to share the news, Medtronic Diabetes Europe said: “As South Africa’s official Barbie with type 1 diabetes ambassador and a proud #MiniMed780G system user, Holly is redefining what it means to live boldly with T1D—on stage, online, and every day in between.”

“Love love love this my Hollz,” said another user.

While another one said: “This is so cool! Now they just need to do an action figure for the boys, my son will love that, he’s been type 1 since the age of two.”
