Heavy-K caught in crossfires of Maphorisa and Samthing Soweto war

Another day, yet another controversy in the mzansi’s music industry and the infamous DJ Maphorisa finds himself caught up in the middle once again.

This comes after recording artists Mas Musiq, Lawd Weezy, TO Starquality and Dj Maphorisa released the highly anticipated single ‘Amalanga awafani’, however, internet users could not help but notice a prominent name that had been left off. That is the name of Samkelo Mdolomba, who goes by Samthing Soweto and some users noted that his name was missing from the credits, basing this on a previous video that went viral, previewing the now-released song.

Samthing Soweto confirmed that there was something shady going on by responding to the Mas Musiq’s announcement of the release of the song. This prompted swift action from the artist’s fans and supporters as they rallied behind him to get to the bottom of what really happened.

In an attempt to clear the air, amapiano maestro DJ Maphorisa went live via Instagram, explaining that Samthing Soweto had been extremely difficult to work with, making outrageous demands all before vanishing and going MIA.

DJ Maphorisa expressed deep emotion during an Instagram Live session, feeling unappreciated for his significant contributions to the South African music industry.

It appears there were a few personalities who agreed with DJ Maphorisa, claiming that Samthing Soweto did have a tendency to be unreachable at times. One of those people is DJ and producer Heavy-K, who responded to a tweet claiming that Samthing Soweto was not being honest about the situation. He was also persistently urging Samthing Soweto to finally do the music video with him.

I thought I was the only one going through this?, never been this frustrated over a release! I’m just hoping we can do a music video at least!?? https://t.co/oiPe8DnYXq

Some agitated fans then came to the ‘Akanamali’ hit-maker’s defense, with one user stating, “Heavy-K we are busy with serious music.” More users agreed, claiming that the ‘Drum Boss’ was out of his depth as far as this conversation is concerned.

This caused a wave of negative comments and insults to flurry Heavy-K’s way, and fortunately, he had the time and strength to defend himself against unrelenting internet users. He went back and forth with a few users until he admittedly put his gloves down to focus on his craft.

“Let me cook and ignore the noise,” he said.
