For the past few weeks, we have been granted the honour of witnessing the graduation season of different South African universities through their school social media pages.

Graduation season is always the best season for both parents and learners as students get to celebrate the hard work they put in; this season usually brings many people together for the celebrations.

All the universities have held their autumn graduation besides Walter Sisulu University which will have their graduation week in May. Videos that left internet users emotional and touched have been shared on TikTok where they received a lot of interaction.

In a video shared by a TikToker from the University of Fort Hare graduation week, we saw a proud father who could not hold himself together as his daughter was called to the stage. The father then waited for her at the other side of the stage while performing a few pushups. When she got off stage, she ran, and her father was already waiting with open arms to embrace her as he carried her back to her seat.

The video was captioned, “Glory to God. This video moved me Bawo wam, a present Father.”

Another video that left internet users emotional is a girl who collapsed during the Cape Town University of Technology graduation ceremony, paramedics rushed to her, and she was helped off the stage, however, she was given a chance to go back on stage whilst one of the lecturers helped her walk across.

“God is good all the time,” was the caption.

During the UFH graduation, another parent was captured as she carried her girl on her back as she got off the stage back to her seat. The video was captioned, “Our parents are so proud of us, and they love us.”

The first video that caught the internet’s attention was an emotional mother who praised and thanked her child during the University of Western Cape graduation as they walked through the stage. The school TikTok captioned the video, “Can nothing beat a mother’s love.”
