After two seasons, Mzansi Magic has made the decision to cancel Gqeberha: The Empire.

Mzansi Magic recently reported that the telenovela would stop playing on our screens after 2 seasons and 520 episodes. As much it has been fun watching the acclaimed Xhosa series featuring stellar performances by Kay Bikitsha, Bongile Mantsai, Tembinkosi Ngcukana and Zandile Msutwana just to name a few. Viewers celebrate the talent that once was as some faces will not be scarce on television.

As per reports by news and entertainment publication, TshisaLIVE, the show produced by Tshedza Pictures’s cancellation was due to low viewership.

The award-winning production company known for its widely produced series such as The Queen, The River, and Youngins has done an amazing job in showcasing Mzansi’s talent.

Phil Mphela took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the news.

I have said it before season two that this should happen, their script was all over the place and since it was no longer about Luzuko and his wives , it lost its touch
