The month of August has given award-winning singer Winnie Mashaba one good reason to smile after the renowned gospel musician was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s Gospel Diva Awards ceremony.
The event was held in her home province of Polokwane, where women in the gospel industry were celebrated for their contributions to the craft.
The news publication IOL, reports that while the singer was absent from the event, the award was accepted by her manager Karabo Mashaba who read the speech prepared by the honorary singer.
In her speech, Winnie thanked the organisation for the privilege and honoured fellow women like Albertina Sisulu, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and several others who have done amazing work in our beautiful country in light of Women’s Month.
In her reflection of how far she has come, she noted that Limpopo was the province where her dream materialised.
“Twenty-six years later, I am getting a lifetime achievement award.”
“I’m so grateful and humbled by the love and support I’ve received over the years. I’m really grateful to my supporters,” she said.
She later thanked Bold Moves Management for honouring her with the award and recognising her accomplishments that have made an impact in the lives of many, and those still to come.
This Saturday, 24 August, the singer will host her “One Country Concert” at the Meropa Casino Outdoor in Polokwane.
The event starts at 13h00 and ends at midnight.
