Gogo Skhotheni Shines in Her Acting Debut with Puseletso

by Zaghrah Anthony

Gogo Skhotheni Steps into the Acting Spotlight

South African entertainment icon Gogo Skhotheni, born Tumi Motsoeneng, has added a new talent to her repertoire—acting. The multifaceted star made her debut in the Mzansi Bioskop film Puseletso, taking on the role of Sister Rachel, a strict yet caring choir instructor.

Sharing her excitement on social media, Skhotheni reflected on a dream she had quietly nurtured for years:

“My heart is full. Today I stepped into my very first acting role as Sister Rachel. A dream I’ve carried quietly has finally come to life,” she wrote.

She also expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the team behind the production:

“Forever grateful for this opportunity, the team and the journey ahead. Ngiyabonga.”

Fans were treated to a sneak peek of her acting chops as she shared clips showcasing her mastery of the character.

Star-Studded Cast

Puseletso is anchored by popular actress Mapule Mafole, known for roles in Rhythm City and Intersexions. Former Rhythm City actor Mpho Molepo also joins the cast, creating a dynamic mix of talent that blends Skhotheni’s charisma with seasoned performers.

Skhotheni, already a household name as a DJ, reality TV star, and podcaster, has consistently captivated audiences with her energy and authenticity. Her move into acting marks a significant new chapter in her entertainment career.

From Sangoma to Screen

Earlier this year, Skhotheni announced she would no longer work as a traditional healer, choosing instead to embrace Christianity fully. She shared the personal journey of redefining her spiritual path:

“I had to differentiate between being a healer and being a witch. Being a healer is what I chose, and it goes along with God. I am a sangoma who believes in God and puts God in everything I do. I love God, and he loves me.”

This transition adds another layer to her debut in Puseletso, as she brings not only performance skills but also personal growth and perspective to her role.

Fans React

The internet has been buzzing with excitement since Skhotheni’s announcement and social media clips. Many fans celebrated her versatility and applauded her courage to step into a new creative field. Some highlighted the inspirational aspect of her journey—from traditional healer to a mainstream entertainment figure exploring acting.

A Bright Future on Screen

With Puseletso, Skhotheni demonstrates that her talents extend far beyond the DJ booth and reality TV sets. Her acting debut may well mark the beginning of a successful cinematic career, showing South African audiences that reinvention and following one’s dreams are always possible.
