Traditional healer Lee-Ann Makopo, popularly known as Gogo Maweni, is set to get married to her husband Sabelo Mgube after he paid the R150k lobola price.

As per reports by ZiMoja, earlier this year Gogo Maweni confirmed the R15ok bride price Sabelo paid. In most black cultures, lobola negotiations signify two families uniting where the groom’s family has to pay the bride price requested by the bride’s family.

Speaking to the entertainment publication, Gogo Maweni stated the first leg of the wedding at her parent’s house in Ormonde would be a small intimate wedding, adding that her mother would not be one of the guests on the day. She added that she would be marrying the Shembe way (a religion that combines Zulu culture and Christianity) ending with a white wedding.

In May, TshisaLive reported that the couple would be expecting their first child together via the IVF process. Confirming this news Gogo Maweni said, “We’ve been trying and haven’t been getting it right but now I’m pregnant. I had a miscarriage but now I’m pregnant officially.”

She further explained that she had unfortunately lost two embryos before being pregnant and wanted to keep it private by letting her stomach grow.

The mother of three boys from her previous relationships told ZiMoja, “I have proven that I’m a mother and I can have children. Fortunately, I met someone who loves me and who I am married to. So, it’s only natural for me to bear children for him.”
