Power FM Boss Given Mkhari and Wife Ipeleng: Reported Split After 21 Years of Marriage

A Marriage in the Spotlight

Power FM and Capricorn FM boss Given Mkhari has reportedly separated from his wife, Ipeleng, after 21 years of marriage. Together for nearly a quarter of a century, the couple built both a family and reputations as influential figures in South Africa’s media and business spaces. Despite their prominence, they were known for guarding their private life, rarely letting the public see beyond the boardroom or radio studio.

Their partnership was long admired in a country where public figures often face intense scrutiny. Many South Africans saw them as a couple who balanced power and discretion, both in their professional roles and in their personal lives.

What We Know for Certain

There are a few facts that are not in dispute. The Mkhari marriage has spanned 21 years, with the couple dating for several years before their wedding. They are parents, though they have deliberately shielded their children from the media spotlight.

In March 2022, Given gave a rare glimpse into their relationship when he posted a heartfelt anniversary message. He celebrated 21 years together and 17 years of marriage at the time, underscoring the depth and longevity of their bond.

When reports of their separation surfaced in 2025, Given was approached for comment. He declined to respond, leaving the story without his voice. To date, Ipeleng has not made any public statement either.

What Remains Unverified

Beyond these facts, several claims have been reported in the media but remain unconfirmed. These include suggestions about when the separation began and whether the couple are already living apart. Neither Given nor Ipeleng has spoken publicly on these points. Until they do, such details should be treated with caution.

Public Reaction

The news has stirred strong responses online. Many South Africans expressed sympathy, noting that long marriages often face challenges, whether in the public eye or not. Others called for privacy, urging that speculation be tempered by respect, especially given the presence of children.

This reflects a broader cultural conversation: while celebrity relationships attract intense interest, there is also recognition that families deserve dignity when navigating personal transitions.

Why It Matters

Given Mkhari is not only a familiar name in broadcasting but also a figure who has shaped parts of South Africa’s media landscape. Ipeleng, in her own right, is a respected businesswoman. Their marriage was one of the longest-standing among high-profile couples in the sector.

The reported separation resonates because it shows that even enduring relationships, admired from a distance, are not immune to strain. For South Africans, it is a reminder that behind the headlines are real people facing real challenges.

Looking Ahead

At this stage, much remains unknown. Until either Given or Ipeleng speaks directly, the story rests on what is confirmed: a marriage of over two decades, children kept away from the public eye, and silence from both parties in response to reports of divorce.

Whatever unfolds next, the hope expressed widely online is that the process is handled with compassion and respect, not only for the couple but for their family as a whole.
