General Mkhwanazi hailed for redirecting BackaBuddy funds to Education Trust

by Nomonde Simelane

General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has cleared the controversial catfish, X user @Chris_Excel, of any allegations of being a scammer after revealing that the BackABuddy funds donated to him were accounted for and would be donated to an SAPS Education Trust.

Not too long ago, X user @Chris_Excel kickstarted a BackaBuddy initiative aimed at raising funds to buy Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi some cows as a gesture of goodwill for the impressive work in the fight against crime. This came after the top cop held an unexpected media briefing, which can now only be described as explosive, during which he made a plethora of allegations against some top officials, including the now-suspended Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu.

After a brief period of uncertainty, the public voiced concerns of being scammed by their controversial fellow mutual, as he could not seem to provide credible verification of the funds’ whereabouts. These users accused Chris of trying to keep the funds for himself, among other accusations.

Putting everything to rest, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi addressed the public and acknowledged Chris, along with the public for the kind gesture. He then requested that with the donor’s permission, he would like to donate the funds to the South African Police Service Education Trust, where they will go towards the fees of the families of officers who died in the line of duty.
