Award-winning businessman and motivational speaker Vusi Thembekwayo has been cleared of abuse charges laid by his wife.

Back in 2021, the businessman found himself in the wrong side of the law when his wife Palesa accused him of hitting her. As reported by Sunday World, Vusi was found not guilty of the charges as his estranged wife’s statement kept changing with claims that she could not remember certain details pertaining the assault.

The estranged couple who got married in 2020 and share three children, later separated due to the alleged GBV claims made by Palesa.

In a detailed police statement made that year, Palesa said, “He has taken the black plastic bags and he put my clothes in them inside the boot of the car. He then took off the blankets from me while I was sleeping in the bed, and he pulled me off the bed,” adding that, “He slapped me several times on my face with his open hand, and then put me inside the car. He has again slapped me with his open hand. I have sustained injuries on my face and on my right hand.”

In a recent interview with entertainment publication, ZiMoja, Vusi alluded that he was not an abuser and that these allegations greatly affected his reputation, adding that, he wanted to clear his image as he had been working hard to build it.

The South African publication states that Vusi had been granted R1 000 bail, denied assaulting Palesa and instead accused her of being a substance abuser.
