South African celebrities are proving that you don’t always have to stick to one specific career path to reach your goals, instead putting yourself out in public is all the exposure you need to reach some of your wildest dreams.

Former Miss South Africa top 10 finalist Luyanda Zuma is living proof of this. After competing in the national beauty pageant in 2022, the 22-year-old has gone on to prove that looking beautiful is not her only talent.

This comes after recent reports by several entertainment publications recently revealed that the young model will soon exchange her catwalk heels for the thrill of being in front of the acting camera when she makes her first appearance in the upcoming teen drama – Obstruction.

Entertainment publication TVSA revealed that Luyanda will be playing the role of Zenokuhle, a 17-year-old netball star who has high hopes of achieving her provincial colours for the Gauteng Netball team.

Despite how good she is, Zeno’s character faces all sorts of obstacles that make reaching her goals even more challenging.

Meanwhile, Zeno recently sat down with lifestyle and entertainment publication Briefly News in which she revealed that she is extremely excited about her new venture, further adding that there are lots of similarities between her and her character.

“This is a dream come true for me, you know, I mean I studied drama, and this has always been like my main objective in terms of my career path.

“So, growing up I used to play a lot of netball and this series being a netball series was just a cherry on top because I knew that I could relate to it as a former teenage netball player.”

Being someone, whose sights were firmly set on achieving national and international success when it comes to the competitive space of pageantry, she further added that portraying the role of Zeno has enabled her to relate to the character.

“My character, Zeno, connects a lot with me as she goes through a lot of challenges and obstructions as a teenager who wants to be picked to play for the national team, and that was who I was growing up.”

The show is expected to premier on Monday, 18 March at 20h00 on Mzansi Bioskop.
