‘First Rugby and now Cricket’ – Robert Marawa celebrates beating New Zealand

by Bongiwe Mati

Radio and TV sports presenter Robert Marawa took to his X (formerly known as Twitter) to celebrate the both the cricket and rugby national teams for beating New Zealand in games a few days apart.

The Proteas played against New Zealand in India yesterday, winning by 190 runs.

This comes shortly after the Springboks won their fourth Rugby World Cup in Paris the past weekend, winning it back-to-back against New Zealand.

Taking to his X, the award-winning sports presenter posted:

@New Zealand thumbed twice by SA in a space of days…First Rugby and now Cricket at the #CWC23INDIA. The @ProteasMenCSA win by 190 Runs!!!@

Among those who commented was media personality and producer Anele Mdoda who also reminded Robert that we are not only beating them in sports, but our girl Tayla’s song was the top song on their music charts.

Heh wena and Tyla’s ‘water’ is number one there in New Zealand https://t.co/9fsZ6li775

More social media users reacted with amusement to the post, asking for more of their sporting codes to come so we can continue trumping over them.

Do they have a football national team? They must bring it here so that we finish them off.
