Felix Hlophe’s Ex-Girlfriend Issues Public Apology Over Paternity Comments

by Zaghrah Anthony

After months of silence, Ayanda Bhengu, comedian and radio personality Felix Hlophe’s ex-girlfriend, has finally issued a public apology for remarks she made last year regarding the paternity of Felix and his wife Tracy’s son. The apology, shared via a heartfelt statement this week, comes after social media and public speculation stirred controversy.

Owning Up to Words That Hurt

Bhengu admitted that she had discussed private matters that were not hers to share. “To be clear, I never mentioned that their son was not her husband’s, but in the midst of it all, it might have come across the wrong way,” she said.

She expressed deep regret for betraying Tracy’s trust and causing unnecessary confusion and pain. Bhengu also addressed the impact her words might have on the couple’s child. “My intention was never to harm, but I understand that intention does not erase the impact,” she wrote.

Why the Apology Took Time

Ayanda explained that she delayed the apology to reflect and ensure it was sincere. “I am truly sorry for overstepping and for the hurt this has caused. I take full responsibility for my actions… this has been a learning curve for me on how to deal with my emotions,” she said.

Her message emphasized mindfulness and respect for others’ private matters going forward, a clear attempt to show personal growth and accountability.

A Look Back at Their Relationship

Ayanda and Felix’s relationship ended last year, before she became his second wife. Following their split, private conversations between the two surfaced on social media, further fueling public curiosity.

In one leaked exchange, Bhengu expressed that she no longer wished to marry Felix after accusations of infidelity. Felix, meanwhile, shared his emotional turmoil over the breakup, saying:

“I just lost the woman I wanted to marry; you think I will be normal? I won’t be normal, but it will pass… but I still have a good woman at home that I love, that I never stopped loving.”

Last November, Bhengu also addressed her followers on Instagram Stories, urging them to tell Felix to leave her alone, adding another layer of public drama to their personal affairs.

Public Reaction and Cultural Context

The apology has sparked conversation on social media, with many commending Bhengu for finally taking responsibility, while others questioned why the apology took so long. In South African celebrity culture, public apologies often carry weight not just for the individuals involved, but for fans and followers who closely engage with the personal lives of media personalities.

Bhengu’s statement underscores the importance of privacy and accountability, particularly in an era where leaked conversations can ignite national debates about trust, relationships, and personal responsibility.
