Fans demand justice for AKA through petition

by Ncumisa Lerato Kunana

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was shot and killed in a Durban shooting on the 10th of February 2023. The incident took place outside the restaurant Wish on Florida Road.

Since his passing, his fans have been in mourning but now it seems they are ready for answers. A person going by the name, Lelo N, started a petition called, #JusticeforAKA. At the time of publication of this article the petition had 2692 signatures with the aim being 5000.

The petition read:

“If a well known celebrated person like AKA could be so carelessly and easily assassinated in front of cops, the public and a number of witnesses, what chance do we stand as ordinary citizens? Who are YOU?

I am starting this petition in the hopes that there are more South Africans, who are tired of unsolved murders; tired of living in a murder capital, where the police work hand in hand with the criminals.

KZN PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER: Lieutenant General Mkhwanazi was at a Newzroom Africa interview before Kiernan was buried, making all sorts of promises, saying that they are analysing footage. WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? He said interviews are being conducted. WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? How many arrests have you made? What was the motive? WE DEMAND ANSWERS! ”

According to Zalebz, Minister Bheki Cele gave an update and said, ” Maybe there are things I am not meant to say. But one of them that I can say, we have collected many cellphones that were working, download and all that kind of thing, trying to patch and knit things together. That is the last I received yesterday. (Monday, 6 March 2023)

#YNews: Police Minister, Bheki Cele says several cellphones linked to the murder of rapper Kieran “AKA” Forbes have been retrieved. He says, while police investigations are still underway, some progress has been made.#RIPakaworldwide #MassCountry pic.twitter.com/y7hlZyNVt2
