Etv’s Scandal! mourns the death of crew member

A dark cloud has befallen the cast and crew of eTV’s Scandal! following the sudden death of one of their crew members, Gary Megit.

Gary who was a vision controller on Scandal! set is said to have been injured while moving equipment and subsequently passed away in hospital. Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela took to his X (formerly Twitter) to break the news.

An accident occurred during production of the popular etv soapie’s upcoming spin-off.

The soapie later took to their X page to confirm the news. Captioning their post: “We are saddened by the loss of our dear crew member, Gary Megit, after a tragic on-set accident. Our hearts go out to Gary’s family. He was cherished, and his loss will be felt by all who worked with him. He will remain in our hearts forever.”

In a statement released by CEO of Ochre Moving Pictures, Stan Joseph, who produces the soapie revealed that the team was devastated by the incident.

“This is a time of immense sadness. Our deepest condolences go out to Gary’s family. We are a very close-knit team on the show and are heartbroken by what happened. Gary was a cherished member of the team and will remain in our hearts forever. We ask that Gary’s loved ones and the Scandal! team be given privacy and allowed to mourn with dignity during this painful time,” said Stan in a statement.

Stan also assured that the production places immense importance on the safety of its cast and crew. “We take safety of our cast and crew very seriously. This was unforeseen and tragic accident.”
