Enhle Mbali booked herself in a mental health institution

by Sinesipho Joyi

South African actress Enhle Mbali opened up about her mental health struggles following the divorce from internationally renowned DJ Black Coffee. After filing for divorce in 2019, Enhle opened up to Sol Pheduka and Dineo Ranaka during an interview on Kaya FM, about her healing journey.

‘As Enhle Mbali I am in a really good place, and I think I’ve been in a good place for a very long time. It’s just that people don’t see the journey behind the healing, you only see the trend then it’s done.’

‘When I did Sincerely Yours [her podcast] I was going through a transformation. I remember before Sincerely Yours, finding myself having to go to a mental health institution and I said to myself , “I’ve far gone depression at this point”‘.

She continued to say ‘I’m not remembering anything, I’m constantly numb, I don’t have an opinion, and I don’t know how I feel and that to me said something is wrong’

The actress shared that she was crying every second she could get because she was mourning a death of a love. Enhle Mbali and Black Coffee were married for 8 years before she filed for divorce, citing infidelity as the cause.

‘I was mourning, all the work I had put in, all the fight I had put it in to make something work and it didn’t, and that is a death.

‘I walked myself into a mental health institution and I remember my psychologist saying – you’re seven years late but you made it and from that day healing began’
