Some internet users didn’t take too well to a recent statement made by Kenyan comedian, Elsa Majimbo. They felt she was poking fun at South Africa’s crime rate.

The 24-year old listed her reasons for missing Mzansi, which included watching people’s phones getting stolen in real time. This led to a tongue lash from some internet users.

Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) page, Elsa said she misses South Africa so much. She expressed that she misses groove, seeing people’s phone getting stolen, biltong, braai and Savanna. She also cited that living in South Africa was one of the best stages of her life.

Her post prompted questions such as “So you lived in Kasi watching people’s phones getting stolen?” and others similar to that.

I miss living in South Africa so much. I miss Groove, I miss watching ppls phones get stolen in real time, I miss biltong and Braai and Savanna. One of the best stages of my life

Elsa’s post was also met with different reactions,  with some understanding that Elsa is a comedian and that her tweet should not be taken too seriously. However, others felt she was disrespecting Mzansi and its citizens.

Reacting to the post, X users said:

It’s not that deep. It’s like you all forget she’s a comedian.
