The election ballot box for registered SA citizens who reside in the UK, and those who will be in London during the voting period, is currently in London, waiting for thousands to cast their votes on Saturday and Sunday.

With just 12 days remaining before the country embarks on the national elections, those in the UK will cast their votes first with the country following 10 days later.

The UK voting process is usually held in one day but this year’s seventh democratic elections will run for two days.

According to the South African High Commission in London, the upcoming elections saw a rise in the number of people who registered to vote, with around 25,000 South Africans who wanted to decide on the fate of Mzansi.

The number of voters who registered to vote prompted the High Commission to extend voting hours and add a second day to accommodate the high numbers.

Registered South Africans will vote from the 18th to the 19th of May, at the South African High Commission in London, from 07h00 until 21h00.

Voters will have to take with their South African ID card or green-book, or a valid temporary Identification Certificate.

Umkhonto Wesizwe’s Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla shared the arrival of the ballot box on her social media platform, X, an app formerly known as Twitter.

Internet users were quick to comment on her post, sharing:

Lol having ANC and MK on the same line makes things even worse for the ANC 😂😂😂 it’s now a clear comparison between Ramaphosa and Zuma
