Dladla Mshunqisi is back with a bang: new music and festival return

South African Gqom star Dladla Mshunqisi real name Anele Dladla makes a grand return with exciting new music and the revival of his much-anticipated Usuku Lomshunqo Music Festival.

IOL reports that Dladla Mshunqisi is turning up the heat with his new song “Yini Lengaka,” featuring Goldmax, DJ Tira, and Siboniso Shozi. Dladla Mshunqisi promises the track will remind everyone why they fell in love with Gqom music, affirming, “Gqom has never died and will never as long as we still exist. Liyabhubha eDurban.”

While working on his latest hit and taking a break from music, Dladla Mshunqisi has been busy with his food stall business, Mshunqo Bites.

According to SundayWorld, Dladla Mshunqisi said having a secondary source of income is essential for artists, and his business will now have a permanent location in Greyville, Durban.

However, according to TshisaLIVE, Dladla Mshunqisi is expanding his brand with the return of his Usuku Lomshunqo Music Festival. The artist announced to the publication that the 5th annual festival, is returning after a two-year break, and will take place on the 30 November 2024, at a new venue—Berea Rovers in Durban CBD which will also be Dladla’s birthday.

The publication further states that the festival’s comeback is fueled by popular demand despite past challenges, including the impact of COVID-19 and a lack of sponsors. The event will feature a star-studded lineup, including Q Twinz, DJ Tira, Beast, Big Zulu, Kabza De Small, and many more.
