DJ Sbu praises Chidimma for being a role model to young girls, not everyone is impressed

Television presenter and radio host DJ Sbu has shared some inspiring words with Miss Nigeria pageant winner Chidimma Adetshina following her recent success at the Miss Universe Pageant.

Sunday saw some of the most beautiful women from across the globe come together to compete for the ultimate prize as each of them set their sights on becoming the new Miss Universe 2024. Just hours prior to the grand finale, Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux announced her withdrawal from the competition to focus on her health.

However, on the night it was the former Miss South Africa contestant, and current Miss Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina who secured herself the title of first princess to Denmark’s Victoria Theilvig who was crowned as the new Miss Universe.

Chidimma has had her fair share of controversy in the country in recent months. This comes after an investigation by Home Affairs highlighted that Chidimma’s mother might be guilty of identity theft and fraud.

Since then, she has been the subject of much criticism, which ultimately led to her withdrawal from the competition – only to be invited to participate in her father’s native country, Nigeria.

Following her recent success DJ Sbu shared a touching post congratulating both Chidmma as well as Miss Zimbabwe Sakhile Dube on being role models to young girls.

“Congratulations to Africa’s pride. Thank you to our Queens for not giving up on your dreams despite all the odds against you. We are very proud of you. Our little girls can believe their dreams are valid, all because of you,” he wrote.

While many shared his sentiments there have been others who entered the comments section criticising him for not extending these words to South Africa’s own Mia Le Roux.

“Soon we going to cancel you. Did you post Mia? I’m sure you are from Nigeria as well,” commented one user.

“Why are you selling this country to Nigeria? Believe me when I tell you there’s no Mofire in their country open your Sbuda.”

Others, meanwhile, felt that it’s time that South Africans stopped being petty and gave Chidimma the credit she deserved.
