DJ Maphorisa’s gusheshe spinning sparks concern

by Samantha Mochele

A video posted by controversial entertainment blogger Musa Khawula on X (formerly Twitter) has set social media abuzz, featuring popular amapiano producer DJ Maphorisa showing off his spinning skills behind the wheel of his iconic Gusheshe.

In the video, Maphorisa is seen confidently drifting the high-powered vehicle, leaving a screech of tyres echoing in the background.

For those unfamiliar, the term “Gusheshe” is a popular street name in South Africa for the BMW e30 325iS, an iconic car known for its power and speed as The Citizen explains, Gusheshe is very fast, a fitting description of the car’s reputation for speed and agility.

The BMW 325iS holds a special place in South African car culture, where it’s often associated with spinning and high-performance stunts.

The reactions to Musa’s video reflect a mix of admiration and concern, with some fans celebrating Maphorisa’s ability to spin. Yet others are calling for caution, fearing that his move might attract unwanted attention from law enforcement.
