DJ and record producer Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, better known as DJ Maphorisa, has reportedly repossessed the cars he bought for his girlfriend Thuli Phongolo after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting her in May this year – a source has told ZiMoja.

The DJ was later granted bail amounting to R4000 by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court for allegedly beating up and strangling the actress during an argument at her home in Sandton, Johannesburg. It has also been reported that Thuli reportedly withdrawn her statement.

However, the assault case which was opened against Maphorisa that was ought to be finalised on Wednesday got postponed to the 12th of July.

According to a source who spoke to ZiMoja, Maphorisa was so furious that he took back the cars he bought for Thuli P after she dropped the lawsuit.

A source told the publication that after Maphorisa was released from custody after spending a night in jail, he requested that his friend fetch his Mercedes G Wagon and Porsche that he had bought for Phongolo.

“To respect the court and bail conditions, Maphorisa chose to send someone to repossess those cars,” said the source at the time to the publication.

According to The South African, the bail requirement, according to Magistrate Clement Mukhodobwane, was that the accused not have any direct or indirect contact with the complainant.

The famous couple said in a joint statement that they will settle the issue quietly rather than pursuing it further.

“The matter has received mixed public attention, causing great emotional stress. It is on this basis that the parties have elected to resolve this matter privately through their respective management and legal teams,” they said in a statement released on their social media pages.
