DJ Maphorisa’s assault case has been postponed again following a court appearance on Wednesday, 5 July.

The award-winning DJ and Amapiano producer, whose real name is Sonnyboy Sekowe, had his case postponed three times following his first court appearance. According to The South African, the case was postponed due to the lack of state representatives during the court proceedings. Recently, the case had unfortunately been postponed again to 12 July.

The case revolves around his girlfriend, Thulisile Phongolo, who decided to take legal action against him in May for allegedly assaulting her in her home in Johannesburg. Due to the series of events, Maphorisa was reportedly arrested and held overnight at Sandton police station.

Maphorisa was then granted R 4000. Further according to The South African, as a part of his bail conditions, Magistrate Clement Mukhodobwane said that he is not allowed to have any direct nor indirect contact with the complainant.

The case was reportedly delayed for the DJ to make representations to have it inhibited, according to Sunday World. This comes after the TV personality’s request for a withdrawal statement when the illustrious Amapiano producer first appeared in court.

According to the statement, the couple fought when Thuli confronted him about their dispute the night before at a concert. “I confronted him so that we can talk about our argument, which happened the previous night during his gig,” said the actress at the time.

She went on to explain how violent he became with her. “He held me, took me to the balcony and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” she added.
