Dineo Ranaka’s parents get candid about visit to fetish club

Things got extra kinky on Dineo Ranaka’s podcast Dineo On Sex n Stuff when she visited a Johannesburg-based fetish club with her parents Kgotlaesele and Nonceba Ranaka.

The Ranaka trio visited Fetish Haven in Wynberg, Johannesburg, and got a tour of the venue by owner Mistress Vee, who has been in the sex industry for 38 years. The experience was a first for all three individuals.

When asked about her thoughts of the environment to which she was introduced, Nonceba told Dineo, “Before we came here, I was asking myself, ‘What are you taking us to?’ The answer and picture that I had was women with stockings, white aprons covering their [private area], and a house full of all these, I would call it ‘funny people.’

“Only to find out we came to a place where it’s like a kindergarten for adults where you can fantasise, play and think about what you can harness what you have because now we are living in a place where we only know one thing.”

When Dineo asked her father about his thoughts on the fetish club, he said that he initially thought they would be visiting a “sex house,” something he says was never quite seen in the black community. He had only seen such places walking the streets of the Johannesburg CBD.

“I thought Dineo was introducing us to a sex house that I’ve always been seeing, and I thought, Let’s go and peep.’ I’ve always had this feeling that it’s not a safe place to be… So the experience and knowledge that I have now, this is a beautiful place, actually.”
