Deborah Cox concert organisers offer discount for show delay

Vertex Events, the organisers of the Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild Magic Music Sessions concert, has apologised to concert goers, artists and stakeholders for the “unforeseen delay” of the “highly anticipated” show, while also offering attendees a discount.

Magic Music Sessions took place in both Cape Town (at the Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World) and Pretoria (at the Sun Bet Arena at Time Square Casino). Both shows were set to start at 18:00. However, in Cape Town, attendees only saw life at 19:30 when opening act Ami Faku hit the stage. According to Sowetan Live, the Pretoria show only commenced after 21:00.

Lengthy sound checks between acts also contributed towards the delay, with concert goers left in darkness and popular R&B hits occasionally playing in the background.

Taking to their social media, the events company distributed a statement of apology.

“We, at Vertex Events, deeply apologise for the unforeseen delay experienced during the highly anticipated Magic Music Sessions. Our team extends our sincerest apologies to all attendees, artists, and stakeholders who were affected by this unexpected inconvenience.”

The statement then explained that the delay was caused by an “unforeseen technical issue that arose during the setup and execution of the event.”

They continued, “In light of the delay and as a token of appreciation, we would like to offer a 20% discount to our upcoming Magic Music Sessions show. All ticket holders for the Deborah Cox and Musiq Soulchild Magic Music Sessions will receive this discount.”

Vertex Events’ Executive Director Thato Segaole extended heartfelt apologies to all those affected. “We value your continued support and understanding as we continue to strive for excellence in delivering unforgettable music experiences.”
