DA L.E.S relocates to the US, but promises to return

by Sergio Miller

After a shocking health scare which resulted in a stroke, award-winning rapper Da L.E.S appears to be making steady progress towards recovery.

The All Eyes On Me hitmaker recently hosted a farewell celebration at his Johannesburg home where he was surrounded by close friends and family members, with the likes of L-Tido and Don Design all in attendance.

In the vlog posted on the DA LES Network on YouTube, the rapper revealed that he would be moving to the United States, where he will be spending much time with his family.

“We’re moving to Houston, Texas. I’m going out there to spend some time with my family in the States, but don’t worry, SA, I’ll be back,” said the rapper on his YouTube channel.

During the farewell celebrations, many of those in attendance shared heartfelt words, wishing him safe travels and a steady recovery.

“I know when you come back, everything is going to be good. You know we got you, we love you. We got your back forever,” said podcaster L-Tido.

In July last year, the rapper suffered a stroke on the eve of his 39th birthday, 26 July 2024, leaving him hospitalised while his family called on the public to intercede in praying on his behalf.

Following the shocking incident, his management team released a statement in November last year highlighting that he was attending rehabilitation programmes to regain his mobility.

Meanwhile, the rapper expressed gratitude towards the messages sent while adding, “I owe it all to God.”

Despite still being wheelchair bound, he has since been active on all social media platforms, including TikTok where he can often be spotted sharing comedy skits involving his daily activities.

“This is bigger than me; I just want to document my life. I had a stroke, it happened on my birthday — and I woke up a month later. When something like this happens, it’s nothing you can control. I’m just lucky to be alive,” he said in June this year.
