South African Hip-Hop rapper, Leslie Jonathan Mampe Junior, popularly known as Da L.E.S broke his silence after surviving a stroke.
This ordeal shocked many, as Da L.E.S had announced his birthday celebration last year in July, before he suffered a stroke that left him hospitalised.
The Real Stuff rapper shared a teaser of a single where he opens up about his recovery on his YouTube channel, Da L.E.S. Network. “They said I won’t do it, but I made it in my own time; they said I won’t make it, but I did in my own time.”
Opening up about surviving a stroke, he said: “The whole purpose of me filming is to let y’all into my life—the real way. I think also just to inspire. One of your kids, you’re going to get help through this.
“So y’all thought I was dead, huh? I’m just lucky to be alive. Real talk. Shout out to all the people who came out. But now I need to get fixed,” he said.
He highlighted that he wanted to share his recovery to help people, because stroke is real, and it can happen to anyone. He also shared that he feels like his life changed, but this is not the end.
“I had a stroke, it happened on my birthday, and I woke up a month later. When something like this happens, it’s something you can control. I’m just lucky to be alive,” he shared.
Da L.E.S also shared his gratitude to the people who supported him during his tough time.
