Da L.E.S family seeks financial assistance for medical bills

Soon after announcing his unfortunate hospitalisation due to suffering a stroke, the family of Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr, more popularly known by his rap name Da L.E.S has reportedly reached out to his close friends for financial assistance.

According to ZiMoja, the rapper’s mother, Priscilla sent out a note appealing to his close friends to make financial contributions to cover medical bills for the star, who is receiving treatment at an unconfirmed Johannesburg hospital. The publication claims that a part of the note reads, “Hi Friends, as support to Leslie’s family while Les is in hospital, we are encouraging friends to assist in kind to Leslie’s mother’s account below,” and included Priscilla’s banking details.

A close friend of the rapper spoke to ZiMoja and revealed that his mother has been deeply affected by the sudden turn of his health, as his father suffered the same fate shortly before passing away in 2021. Her emotional well-being is understandably questionable at the moment, “She is not okay; I just want us to keep his family in her prayers. She is devastated,” the source said.

Users on X (formerly Twitter) took to the comments to voice their concern over his lack of planning for such occurrences, with some suggesting that he be transferred to a government-owned hospital where treatment would be free. It is not the first time a celebrity of his calibre has had to seek financial assistance from the public, regardless of living a lavishly luxurious lifestyle and it seems South Africans have had enough.

“How do you ask for donations for medicals when you have cars and jewellery that cost millions, why don’t you sell those things first?” the user asked.

God forgive me but i will never donate a cent to any so-called celebrity or hardcore buty influencers🤞💯

How do you ask donations…

No updates have been provided by the family since the initial statement on Instagram, although the rapper is said to be stable while his health was making improvements. His mother left the United States of America where she is based to be with him during this time and while he recovers.
