Cubique DJ’s Car Stolen at Scorpion Kings Concert: A Cautionary Tale for South African Event-Goers

by Zaghrah Anthony

The Scorpion Kings With Friends Live concert, held on 29 August 2025 at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, was a night of electrifying performances by Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa. However, for popular music producer Cubique DJ, the event took a disappointing turn when his car was stolen during the festivities.

The Discovery: A Stripped Vehicle in Soweto

Cubique DJ took to social media to share the unfortunate news, stating that his vehicle had been located by a tracking company in Soweto. Regrettably, by the time the car was recovered, it had been stripped of its valuable parts. He expressed his frustration with the situation but also acknowledged the positive aspects of the event, stating, “At least the show was 10/10.”

Public Reaction: Mixed Emotions and Advice

The news of the theft quickly spread online, prompting a wave of reactions from fans and followers. Many expressed sympathy for Cubique DJ, with some offering practical advice on event security. One user suggested, “Find a home not so far from the stadium, ask them to park, and maybe buy a cold drink. And use Uber to the actual stadium.” Others reflected on similar incidents, recalling the 2017 car thefts during Justin Bieber’s concert at FNB Stadium.

A Wake-Up Call for Event-Goers

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges faced by attendees at large events in South Africa. While the majority of concert-goers enjoy the festivities without incident, cases like Cubique DJ’s highlight the importance of vigilance and preparedness. Event organizers and attendees alike must collaborate to ensure that safety measures are in place to protect personal property.
