Parents will always share their children’s achievements, and that is just what South Africa’s number one sports fan, Mama Joy, did regarding her son’s entry into the police force. However, many social media users are not joining in on the jubilations but instead raising eyebrows.

Early Sunday morning, Mama Joy, whose real name is Joy Chauke, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share an image of her son Kelvin in the South African Police Service (SAPS) uniform, who earned the rank of constable.

The post did not receive much interaction; however, Mama Joy’s next post sparked a bit of controversy.

A few minutes later, Mama Joy shared a post containing three images – one of those images showed the mama embracing South Africa’s Minister of Police, Bheki Cele.

“My son, our constable has joined Minister Bheki Cele and has chosen to serve our beautiful country. My family for South Africa. Serve us Kelvin,” she captioned her post.

X users flooded Mama Joy’s comment section, with some warning her against posting personal moments on her social media while others suggested her son got the post through “connections.”

Why exposing your son like this? Do you know the world we live in?

I have a diploma in policing but never been called even once after writing that psychometric test, I just wish I had a mother like her…
