Five months after closing application submissions, the Miss SA organisation has revealed the list of their top 10 contestants for this year’s cycle of the highly popular pageant. Factions have already started forming, as viewers lock in on their favs.

The Miss SA pageant has become a national event or somewhat of a rite of passage where families from all corners of South Africa stay glued to their screens for almost three hours to witness the crowning of the country’s next ambassador. Similar to a Springbok or Banyana Banyana match, the finale has become one of those events where the atmosphere across the republic is beyond immaculate, with nothing posing a threat to the vibes.

For most queens, winning the Miss SA title is only the beginning, as the organisation has garnered a reputation for training and producing some world-renowned talent, who go on to accomplish immense international success, particularly on huge platforms such as Miss Universe and Miss World. To this day, Zozibini Tunzi remains a household name and global icon after becoming the first black South African to don the coveted Miss Universe crown.

As reigning Miss SA prepares to hand over the baton and crown her successor, the organisation has revealed that wheels to finding the perfect candidate are officially in motion after announcing this year’s highly anticipated top 10.

This announcement has triggered some uncontrollable excitement across South Africa’s social media platforms, and has seen netizens already pledging their allegiance to the their favourite contestants. Of course, the allegiance is determined by various factors, including their culture, geographical location, or through personal relationships.

So far Eastern Cape’s Qhawe Mazeleni and KwaZulu Natal’s (KZN) Luyanda Zuma have stood out as clear fan-favourites, one for their outreach work, the other for her her powerful social presence.

I don’t know what other girlies are doing but this girl is what a miss SA should be… https://t.co/OjvBqaDfss
