An old video of controversial beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina sharing her thoughts on two of South Africa’s official languages has resurfaced as she fights against the deportation case against her.
She noted that she doesn’t like speaking isiXhosa and isiZulu, as she mixes the two languages during conversations.

Chidimma Adetshina addresses her stance on Mzansi languages
X user @RamaphiriMpho reshared a video Chidimma had posted on the app on 3 December 2025, where she shared how many languages she could speak.
Admitting that she could speak English fluently, she added that she was not that great at speaking isiXhosa and isiZulu despite being able to engage in a conversation with speakers.
“But I’m just not going to be able to respond, just for my own sanity.”
The Sowetan-born beauty also told social media users that she can speak Shangaan, widely known as Xitsonga and spoken by millions across South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini, better than isiZulu and isiXhosa, calling the revelation weird.

Battling with the Department of Home Affairs
The video above comes at an emotionally taxing time for the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 titleholder, who is battling against the Department of Home Affairs. eNCA reports that she was declared persona non grata after authorities found that her mother, Anabela Rungo, had fraudulently registered her birth.
The deportation matter has reached the Cape Town Regional Court, with the judgment expected on 19 August 2026.
