Charmaine Mtinta reportedly leaves ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ after contractual disputes

by Zintle Mdaka

Legendary actress, Charmaine Mtinta recently cleared reports surrounding her exit on e.tv’s drama soapie, Smoke and Mirrors, after it was alleged that she was fired from the show.

On the weekday drama, Charmaine portrayed the character of a big-hearted sangoma, Nomeva Ndamase, who instantly became a mother to everyone in eMnyameni township.

Recently, Charmaine known for characters she played on Yizo Yizo, Isono, Matatiele and The River; released a statement where she stated that she is deeply concerned about the false and damaging allegations that were being circulated on the socials regarding her departure from Smoke and Mirrors.

“These claims are untrue and risk tarnishing my reputation and career, and I feel it is necessary to address them directly,” she noted.

Clearing the air, she said her departure followed a series of professional discussions between herself and the production team surrounding the terms of her role. Unfortunately, they did not reach an agreement, however, the discussions were conducted with mutual respect.

She further said: “To my colleagues, supporters and the broader entertainment industry, I remain committed to my craft and look forward to continuing to bring meaningful and impactful performances to audiences. Thank you for your continued support,” she penned.
