Valentine’s Day is usually about roses, chocolates, and dinner reservations. This year, however, actress and former beauty queen Celeste Khumalo raised the bar to an entirely different level.

The former Generations star was gifted a Bentley reportedly worth R5.6 million, and South Africans have not stopped talking about it since.

From soapie screens to luxury scenes

Many still remember Celeste from her days on Generations, where she became a familiar face in living rooms across the country. Before that, she was crowned Miss South Africa Teen, a title that introduced her to the spotlight at a young age.

Over the years, she has built a career in entertainment and modelling, steadily growing her profile. But nothing quite prepared fans for the moment she was presented with a luxury Bentley as a Valentine’s surprise.

Videos circulating online show the grand reveal, complete with flowers and celebration. The sleek vehicle, synonymous with wealth and status, quickly became the centre of online chatter.

As expected, social media lit up. Some congratulated the star, praising her glow-up and celebrating what they described as “soft life goals.” Others debated the price tag, with many shocked that a Valentine’s gift could reach R5.6 million.

There was also curiosity about her partner, Richard, who reportedly made the lavish gesture. While some users applauded the romantic grandiosity, others questioned whether such public displays of wealth create unrealistic expectations.

It is not the first time a South African celebrity has made headlines for a luxury car gift, but it remains rare enough to spark national conversation.

More than just a car

Beyond the glitz, the moment reflects something larger about celebrity culture in South Africa. Public figures are often scrutinised not just for their work but for their lifestyles. A grand gesture like this becomes a talking point about success, relationships, and modern romance.

For many fans, the Bentley symbolises achievement. For others, it is simply an extravagant Valentine’s story that adds sparkle to the news cycle.

Either way, Celeste Khumalo’s Valentine’s Day will not be forgotten anytime soon.
