Cassper Nyovest pays tribute to the late HHP

by Johana Mukandila

Rapper and entrepreneur Cassper Nyovest talks about his entry into the music industry and pays tribute to the late Motswako musician HHP in a new interview published on Wednesday, July 26 by fellow rapper L-Tido.

Given that he was trained by late South African rap icon Jabulani Tsambo, better known by his stage name HHP, Cassper’s rise to prominence as one of South Africa’s most popular and successful singers is not surprising.

“I always say that what I could’ve learnt in 10 years, I learnt in the two years when I was working under HHP”, Cassper tells L-Tido.

He continues: “I was right next to the best. He [HHP] was the greatest!”

In addition, Cassper credits the late rapper for his achievements, education, and work ethic.

“He was the most commercially appealing rapper at the time, o body did brands like him, nobody crossed over to white people like him He had a talk show, was on Strictly Come Dancing, and I was right next to this guy. I use to see how he would treat fans and how he would structure deals. I learned all of that by just being next to him.”

The Doc Shebeleza hitmaker who recenlty annpunced his forthcoming album, Solomon, has been postponed its release, originally set for July 28 has been moved. The rapper apologised, saying he would reveal the new release date soon.

“I’m sorry y’all. The positive news is that all is now fixed and we will have a new date and single in the next week,” he wrote on his Twitter timeline.
