A TikTok video of a woman ice bathing on a Cape Town beach has gone viral, leaving many people hilariously confused.

The video has garnered more than 33,000 views, 802 comments, 2 417 saves and 2 329 reshares.

In the video, posted by Wouter Lombaard (@waarswouter), the woman can be seen relaxing in her inflatable ice bath with a pair of sunglasses on. A gentleman could be seen doing the same next to her:

@waarswouter #wouterwonder – hoekom gaan cold plunge die Tannie in ‘n opblaas badjie langs die see? Hoeveel sakky ys moes sy aandra? Hoekom wil sy nie eerder in die yskoue see gaan submerge en cold plunge nie? En as die ys dan nou smelt…. Ek het soveel vrae…. ————- #wouterwonder is sommer vrae wat ek hardop vra. ——— #wouterwonder #woutervideo #icebath #submerge #colplunge #bantrybay #capetown #afrikaanstiktoks ♬ original sound – Wouter Lombard

Some viewers commented that this is just ‘normal Cape Town behaviour’:

  • Just a regular day in Cape Town😭
  • Sometimes Cape Town people can be extra 😁😁😁😁

Others commented on the hilarity of the situation:

  • ‘Die see water is seker te vuil. Daai is Woolworths ys 😂’
  • ‘🤣🤣🤣 Ok I really need to know who how she got all that ice down there 🤣’
  • ‘R500 worth of ice😂 and the cold Atlantic is right there😂😂😂’

Several others noted the reason for the ice bath:

  • ‘It’s a breath work workshop they do. Couple of people not just her’
  • ‘I think this is some kind of therapy but I would do that in my backyard instead of confusing the beachgoers. She needs to release stuff in order to heal and be okay.’
  • ‘Lots of people does the ice baths for health reasons’

However, most commenters were very supportive:

  • ‘Love it. That would be me without the ice. As I don’t swim in the sea to avoid bluebottles and sharks 🤣’
  • ‘This tannie is everything.. unbothered❤ confusing everyone just because she can lol’
  • ‘She’s living life 😇’
  • ‘Main character vibes man!! I’m here for it. 😂🤣’
