South African R&B and soulful house singer Bucie real name Busisiwe Nolubabalo Nqwiliso addressed the speculation that her ex-husband was behind her break from music.
In a recent interview on Radio 2000, Bucie clarified that her departure was a personal decision, not influenced by her ex-husband.
Bucie expressed her need to correct the speculation regarding the matter saying, “People give my ex-husband way too much credit by saying he made me quit music, but that’s not true. It was time for me to take a break to focus on my family and be there for my children. It was important for me to be present for them, and stepping away from the industry was necessary.”
In an exclusive interview with TshisaLIVE, the soulful house singer shared her excitement about returning to music and working with her long-time producer, Demor Sikhosana.
She expressed enthusiasm about the new track, noting that she and Demor are blending their classic musical style with modern sounds to create a unique listening experience.
“We’re staying true to our musical identities while also incorporating current sounds. This blend creates a unique and memorable experience for our listeners. You can expect a sense of nostalgia as Demor and I have always had great working chemistry,” she said.
Bucie further told TshisaLIVE, that during her hiatus, she concentrated on her record label, Bucie Pty Ltd, and enjoyed time with her family. She hopes to continue growing her label to support emerging artists, though she’s open to future possibilities.
In addition to her new music, Bucie has announced a special event for her fans. In an Instagram post, Bucie revealed the details of her upcoming show, Bucie Live: An Intimate Experience. The performances are scheduled for July 26th and 27th at Flute, where she will deliver a special setlist of her favourite songs in a cosy, personal setting.
