The excitement in the air is palpable as the countdown to one of the country’s most anticipated annual events, the Hollywoodbets Durban July is well underway. As we all know, the event’s main attraction is horse racing, however, there are many other festivities the guests can look forward to at the Greyville Racecourse.
Fashion and entertainment are two of the event’s main attractions, as each year brings exciting interpretations of the theme by the attendees. ‘Ride the wave’ was the theme announced earlier this year by event organisers on Instagram with a post captioned, “Immerse yourself in waves of creativity as we reveal the Hollywoodbets Durban July theme: “Ride the Wave!”

The event provides guests with several hospitality options and Johnnie Walker Blonde’s BOOMTOWN has picked up where they left off last year and has announced a thrilling line-up set to grace their stage. “The entertainment is unrivalled on the day. Combining a hand-picked selection of mzansi’s most talented artists we create a high-energy experience offering top-class sound stage and lighting for our guests’ enjoyment,” says the marquees’ website.
This carefully curated lineup includes the return of the Kings of the weekend; Sphectacular and Dj Naves, Goldmax, Shilly Mingz, DJ Hands, and Devlin.

Memoirs rapper Maglera Doe Boy is also set to make his debut at the event, which comes as no surprise as he is among hip-hop’s hottest artists in the country.

Boomtown previously partnered with Heineken, this year, however, they have gone with Johnnie Walker Blonde and have promised returning and new guests that nothing will change with the quality, service and entertainment that will be provided.
“We are also super excited to have Johnnie Walker Blondie on board this year. Much like the ethos of the Boomtown experience, our partners are all about celebrating life to the fullest. It’s the perfect match,” says the events frontman Stuart Scott.
