Bongani Fassie to host 20th anniversary tribute to honour Brenda Fassie

Twenty years have passed since the world bid farewell to the legendary South African singer-songwriter, Brenda Nokuzola Fassie, fondly remembered as MaBrrr.

In remembrance of her enduring legacy, her son, Bongani Fassie, is set to host a special tribute event at Tycoon Lounge in Bryanston.

Tragically Brenda Fassie passed away on 9 May 2004, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of music lovers worldwide. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of her passing, Bongani Fassie has curated an evening of music and celebration in honour of his late mother.

Taking to social media Bongani captioned his post, “Join me at Tycoon Lounge as we honour the incomparable Brenda Fassie – not just my late mother, but a global icon in African pop music! It’s been 20 years since her passing, and her music still resonates with millions around the world. Let’s come together with fellow artists to celebrate her legacy, her passion, and the joy she brought to so many lives. Don’t miss this special night of remembrance and music that promises to be as unforgettable as Brenda herself. See you there!.”

According to Sunday World, he calls for artists to unite in celebrating her legacy, passion, and the joy she shared with millions.

“Let us come together with fellow artists to celebrate her legacy, her passion, and the joy she brought to so many lives,” he said.

Social media users weighed in, “Love you for keeping your mom alive.”

Another user said, “Woow wish I was there….my fave MaBrrrr  RIP Ma.”
