TV personality, Bonang Matheba and tweeps have blasted Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula after he posted a tweet social media about his travels.

Bonang said the minister was tone deaf following his tweet about landing safely in Qatar. Bonang highlighted the insensitivity of the minister . ‘ All of you. You should’ve cancelled this trip. The community of Pongola need you,’ she wrote.

Tone deaf. All of you. You should’ve cancelled this trip. The community of #Pongola need you. https://t.co/MAmtDXCDpC

Bonang was making reference to a horrific crash that had occurred on the N2 highway in northern KwaZulu-Natal killing 21 people, 19 of those being children between 5-12 years old. The accident which involved a truck and bakkie transporting school children happened between Pongola and Itshelejuba.

Fikile Mbalula has since released a statement, after the public lashing he received from Bonang as well as tweeps.

We learnt with great shock of the horrific accident which claimed 21 lives in UPhongolo

We welcome the arrest of the truck driver by Law-enforcement and await reports on further investigations.

This is not the first time the ‘Queen B’ is calling out a minister. In May, she blasted Minister of Sports, Nathi Mthethwa on Twitter, calling him useless. This was following an announcement that the ministry had set aside R22 million  to be spent on the ‘Flag Project’.

In a series of tweets, the presenter expressed her disdain for the minister. She called for him to be fired and mentioned how South Africa hated him.

Fire this man. Please. https://t.co/GnSqyRP7Ww
