Love is in the air, and Springbok player Bongi Mbonambi and his lovely wife Stacey are more than happy to share their affection with the rest of us.

The couple recently celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. Despite the passage of time, they are as in-love as the first day they set their eyes on one another.

Bongi is currently in Johannesburg, where preparations have begun for what will be an action-packed Rugby Championship, which takes place from this weekend. Despite his busy schedule, the Bok number 2 has found a gap in his day to honour the woman he holds most dearest to his heart, his wife Stacey.

Taking to social media, he shared a loving post in celebration of their nearly decade-long marriage, writing, “Happy 8th anniversary, my beautiful wife. Here is to many more anniversaries by the grace and mercy of GOD.

“It hasn’t been perfect, but definitely worth it… Thank you for your love and patience, and so much care for our little family. You have blessed me with two beautiful girls who are our world.”

Attached to his post were a collection of pictures from their beautiful wedding day, along with some pictures of the present in reflection of their journey together.

Meanwhile, the mother of two shared a post of her own honouring her loving husband.

“Eight years of marriage by the Grace of God. As in literally by the grace of God, because this life will throw you some curveballs and when things get hard… man lol it does get hard especially with your profession,” she joked.

“I hope and pray the years get sweeter and filled with more love and our beautiful girls get to witness what is a healthy union, partnership and friendship filled with love, honour and respect.”

In a previous interview with BrightRock, while playing in the blue and white colours of the Stormers, Bongi revealed that he and Stacey first met at church in 2015.

“I saw her singing in the choir and I was like wow she’s a very beautiful woman and started following her on Instagram.”

Fast-forward to two years later, they officially uttered the words “I DO”.

Since then, they have become the proud parents to two beautiful girls and also relocated from Cape Town to Durban where Bongi now represents the Sharks.
