Black Coffee reflects on 1 year since selling out Madison Square Garden

by Sergio Miller

World-renowned international and Grammy Award-winning DJ, Black Coffee has recently taken the time to reflect on one of his biggest career accomplishments to date – selling out a packed event at Madison Square Garden.

When it comes to the big stage in American entertainment, it possibly cannot get bigger than selling out one of the country’s most renowned arenas. The venue has been a home host to some of the world’s biggest stars including Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and many others.

Last year the South African-born DJ, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo had the privilege to have his name written in history, by becoming the first-ever South African DJ and producer to sell out the venue.

Taking to Instagram, he recently reflected on the moment, one year after what could have been one of the biggest nights of his life.

A post shared by Black Coffee (@realblackcoffee)

In his post, he wrote:

“Today marks one year since one of the most meaningful shows of my entire career. Madison Square Garden is still on my mind. Counting down to two nights in Brooklyn this weekend….”

Attached to the post were a few pictures of the evening, showing Black Coffee sweep attendees off their feet with his capabilities on the DJ deck.

Those who attended the show later entered his comment section with nothing but praise to give to the Drive hitmaker.

“One of the best experiences I experienced from a DJ,” wrote one user.

Another added: “It’s as if it all happened yesterday, what a night it was!”

Others however felt that because of the magnitude of the event, he should have considered making a documentary of the entire experience.

Last year President Cyril Ramaphosa thanked him for sharing his talents with us and for flying the SA flag high.
