The highly anticipated fifth season of Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) has finally hit our TV screens, and it is already living up to its name as things have gotten off to a fire start, with contestants making some interesting impressions.

After bidding farewell to much loved former long-time BBM host Lawrence Maleka, mzansi was on their toes waiting to see whether the new host Smash Afrika would be a suitable successor to his highly talented peer.

“With the new host, son of the soil, Smash Afrika, season 5 promises to be a thrilling ride with unforgettable moments, clap once drama and more unpredictable twists,” says the DSTV website.

This year’s theme ‘Umlilo’ which translates to ‘fire’ is a clear indication of what one of mzansi’s biggest reality competition shows has in store for their viewers, as some contestants did not take long to reveal their big personalities.

The opening and introductory ceremony has had internet users glued to their TV screens as the housemates make their first impressions, allowing viewers to select their favourites and foes early on. This has seen various social media platforms swarming with BBM-related posts, as mzansi convenes to discuss their respective findings.

The season has already kicked off to an exciting and unexpected start as we have seen the eviction of two housemates already.

This year’s cast has been pleasantly diverse, accurately representing the ‘Rainbow Nation’ and all the people that makeup make mzansi’s population. This has the anticipation for drama, action, competitiveness, rivalries and of course, some plotting and scheming.

Following some incidents from last season, viewers have come up with a few rules that they feel should be followed for optimal entertainment.

Reminder:
1. We don’t tag BCCSA…. you saw the theme aker
