Popular music group Bongo Maffin, made up of musical artists Thandiswa Mazwai, Harold “Speedy” Matlhaku, Stoan Seete, and Jah Seed will be performing with Dru Hill at the 2nd Annual All White Soul Sessions Concert soon, allegedly without their lead singer Thandiswa.
The popular group from the US, Maryland, Dru Hill will be the headlining act at the 2nd Annual All White Soul Sessions concert set to take place at the Sunset Arena in Pretoria, on the 7th of September 2024.
In an interview with Sunday World, Thabiso “Skeelo” Mogashwa, who is the event organiser shared that Bongo Maffin’s Speedy was the one who made bringing Dru Hill to Mzansi possible as he has a relationship with the group’s lead singer Sisqo and the rest of the band.
“We have been planning it for a long time. So we had a conversation with Harold regarding the possibility of bringing Dru Hill. Because he obviously has a relationship with the guys. He facilitated everything for us. From there we managed to get contacts for their management directly. We closed the deal,” said Thabiso.
It was, however later reported by local news publication ZiMoja that lead singer Thandiswa will not be joining the group due to other commitments. The publication further added that Thandiswa wished his “boys” the best in their performance.
It is unclear why the singer will not be joining the group at the All White Soul Session, but judging by her hectic performance schedule, the Lahlumlenze singer probably has commitments that won’t make it possible for her to be part of the event. The singer has three shows in the US in July, coming back home to perform the last leg of her Sankofa tour in Cape Town on the 20th, of July. She will also be performing at the DSTV Delicious Festival on Saturday the 21st of September
