It is true when they say, social media will make or break you. This is evident in the Sobonana Emathuneni trend that was created with the vocals of Sandisiwe Mathamo who remixed a song, originally from Lusanda Spiritual Group.

This song amassed huge popularity as it is often used to project the daily life of taxi chronicles. Sandisiwe who is popular on TikTok for recording gospel songs with his unique sound, recently shared a clip on his TikTok page with a caption that read: “Why are you quiet? My mind: Emathuneni sobonana.”

This sound attracted many users, prompting them to use it on scenarios they see fit the lyrics of the song, which translates to: “We’ll see each other at the graveyard.”

Recently, Sandisiwe took to his TikTok page to share how he thought of recording this song. In the clip he explained that he was scrolling on YouTube looking for instrumentals, because he was going to record a video, he came across Lusanda’s old song that he never heard of at the time. He liked it and started recording, not knowing that his recording would be popular, as he was doing it for fun.

He recalled singing along to Lusanda’s songs growing up, and he would impersonate her while singing the lead part. In the recent video he shared, Betusile Mcinga who is the son of the renowned Gospel icon, Lusanda promised to make Sandisiwe’s dream come true, as he said he would contact him for a remix of that song with Lusanda. “I will contact you senze a new remix of that song and you do it with Mom Lusanda.”

This led to some of the TikTok users agreeing that there needs to be a remix because Sandisiwe’s voice blends well with the song. “Please make the remix because I was expecting that vocals, please my brother I need a full remix of you,” said one TikTok user.
