Bongekile Simelane popularly known as Babes Wodumo has come out gun blazing demanding that her late husband Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo’s music either be released or given to her to release under his label West Ink Records.

Mampintsha sadly passed on the 24th of December in 2022 after suffering a stroke.

The couple who were in a relationship for many years announced their engagement in October 2020, later tying the knot in April 2021.

As the remaining parent to their son nicknamed Sponge, it is now Babes’ responsibility to look after her husband’s businesses and intellectual property as she did when she spoke about his unreleased music with local publication ZiMoja.

Speaking to the publication Babes called out amapiano producer Kabza De Small for not releasing her husband’s songs after almost two years since he passed, “That was more than two years ago, but he is still holding onto the music, haw kahle (please man)!”

Stressing her point the Ganda Ganda hitmaker added, “Either he releases the music or sends it to me, and I will release it under his label as his own. I don’t want the legacy of my husband to die just because people are holding onto his music.”

The queen of gqom also noted that Kabza was not the only artist who had not released songs that Mampintsha had done before passing, “He spent a lot of time in the studio, and there are people for whom he did vocals on their songs but have not released them. I’m asking for umculo wendoda yami (my man’s music). His child needs it,” she noted.

Responding to the publication Kabza shared, “I have hundreds of songs that have not even been released, and you wait for the right time. It’s the same with Mampintsha. We made a song together, but it wasn’t the right time. I have spoken to Babes; the music will be released.”
