Youngsters Ashley Sauls and Liam Jacobs have captured the country’s attention after clips of their portfolio committee have been making the rounds on social media. According to users, these youngsters embody what South Africa is in need of in the political sphere.

Patriotic Alliance’s (PA) Ashley Sauls and Democratic Alliance’s Liam Jacobs have become the nation’s favourite politicians, as clips of their portfolio committee, which sat recently, have made rounds across various social media platforms, as users applaud their ability to get to the bottom of things efficiently. The purpose of portfolio committees is to oversee the corresponding government department’s work, ensuring that obligations are being met.

24-year-old Ashley, who sat in the portfolio committee for higher education and training, raised concerns and accused the Central University of Technology (CUT)  of favouring and opting to hire foreign nationals over qualified South African citizens. Furthermore, he exposed that the institution’s vice chancellor and principal, Pamela Dube’s blatant disregard for policy to place foreign nationals in roles that do not require scarce skills.

They deliberately don’t want to give qualified South Africans jobs they call it (internationalization) what the hell is that? ? pic.twitter.com/kB2yE8cpDC

23-year-old Liam Jacobs, who sat on the portfolio committee for sports, arts and culture, also went on his own exposé, where he revealed some discrepancies in Netball SA’s books, as key members such as the CEO failed to account for the organisation’s spending.

@liamjacobs.za Good morning South Africa!! ?????? You’ve asked for it so here it is. The full 8 minutes of my questioning towards the executive of Netball South Africa. I asked them about R119 THOUSAND on a social media influencer and over R2 MILLION on consulting fees. Here’s what they had to say. #politics #parliament #southafricanpolitics #netball ♬ original sound – Liam Jacobs MP

The aftermath of said portfolio committees has been nothing short of chaotic, as members of the public have expressed frustration at the facts revealed by Ashley and Liam. These users believe that the state of corruption has reached a worrying state, and have applauded the youngsters for making the public aware, and have identified the next step as holding the necessary individuals accountable, and finding ways to prohibit things like this from continuing.

Yho this Liam Jacobs guys page on IG. Corruption is so crazy. Cities and towns spending millions of rand for nothing. People just eating.
