When it comes to music, South African artists have consistently proven their ability to go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the world. Although we are known mostly for our amapiano exports, our hip-hop and R&B artists are just as talented and have been working tirelessly to give us banger after banger.
With tons of good music dropping so frequently, it can be hard to keep track of when our favourite artists are dropping new music.
To make the process a bit easier for you, here is a list of 4 hip-hop/R&B artists that have/will drop some music this week:
- Nanette
After making a name for herself and featuring on amapiano maestro Kelvin Momo’s ‘Fool Me’, the singer and songwriter released a 7-track offering called ‘The Waiting Room’. The project includes features from some of hip-hop’s biggest personalities, namely Blxckie, Tellaman and Nasty C.
Nanette took to her Instagram to announce the release of her EP:

2. Blxckie
More popularly known as ‘Usomnyama’ by his supporters, Blxckie proves he has been hard at work because not only is he featuring in other artists’ projects, but he has also been cooking some heat of his own. His EP ‘See U Soon’, set to drop on Friday, 26 July already has his fans foaming at the mouth to get a listen.
With his recent travels abroad, this project is set to reflect the artist’s journey with a versatile sound adopted from these travels.

3. Lesedi the DJ
Although a young talent in the hip-hop industry, Lesedi Ndhlangamandla has established himself as one to look out for, not only on the decks but as a producer as well.
The youngster finally announced the highly anticipated offering via Instagram. The song features Kiddo CSA, Loatinover Pounds and Flow Jones Jr.

4. Sizwe Alkaline
After making the switch from hip-hop to the amapiano space, the artist, also known by his former rap name Reason, seems to be missing his roots. Drawing a parallel between the two persona, he releases a music video to his song ‘Where’s Reason’.
The video, dropping this Friday, uses a creative cloning technique where the artist appears as two different characters at the same time. The song also highlights his ability to bridge the gap between hip-hop and amapiano.
He captioned his announcement with “Ever wondered how Sizwe Alakine featuring Reason would sound?”
