Another Springbok wedding! Manie Libbok and highschool sweetheart tie the knot

Mere weeks after Springbok and Stormers flyhalf Manie Libbok and high school sweetheart Verna-Lee Arries, now Libbok revealed glimpses of her bridal shower, the happy couple have tied the knot this past weekend in Mossel Bay, as reported by IOL.

One thing the Springbok players will do is win, and get married! As outsiders, we can’t help but wonder whether these were strict instructions coming from the higher-ups as a prerequisite to keeping a spot on the team. We’d be lying if we said it wasn’t admirable as the Bokke not only lead by example on the pitch but live exemplary lives off it as well.

Recently, Mannie Libbok was notably absent from the Stormers’ clash with Italian side Zebre Parma, and a wedding sounds like a fitting reason to be excused from his responsibilities. Unsurprisingly, details of the ceremony and anything surrounding it have been kept hush by the Libboks and their loved ones as Manie has always kept his private life away from the limelight, and having no social media helps the cause.

Taking to Instagram, Verna shared that her and Manie’s wedding and love story is featured in Huis Genoot‘s latest edition. The pair met in high school, but only initiated a relationship after they had both matriculated, and their rest has been history.

One can’t help but feel happy for Manie and Verna, particularly Manie, as he has been dealing with harsh criticism concerning his performance with the Springboks. Hopefully, his wedding provided a well-needed distraction from critics and haters and allowed him to focus on what is important, and family will always come first.
