Angélique Kidjo makes history as first African artist on Hollywood Walk of Fame

In a historic moment for both the music industry and the African continent, Angélique Kidjo is set to become the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As reported by Eyewitness News, Kidjo was announced as one of the 2026 honourees alongside celebrated icons such as Shaquille O’Neal, Timothée Chalamet, Indian actress Deepika Padukone, as well as Miley Cyrus. 

This prestigious accolade celebrates Kidjo’s extraordinary talent, as well as her role as a cultural ambassador and advocate for social change.

Born in Benin, the singer has captivated audiences worldwide with her unique blend of African rhythms, jazz, and pop.

Her powerful voice and dynamic performances have also earned her multiple Grammy Awards and a reputation as one of the most influential artists of her generation.

Moreover, her commitment to promoting African culture has made her a beloved figure globally.

Beyond her musical achievements, Kidjo is also a passionate advocate for education and women’s rights.

She founded the Batonga Foundation, which focuses on empowering young girls in Africa through education and leadership programs. Her dedication to social issues has further solidified her status as a role model, inspiring countless individuals to pursue their dreams and make a difference in their communities.

As she continues to break barriers and inspire future generations, her legacy will undoubtedly continue to illuminate the path for many who follow in her footsteps.
